Connection error

If the PSN network is connected to the Internet and you receive a message about this error, it is because the IP address assigned to you by your network service provider or ISP is blocked due to actions that violate the terms of service on the PlayStation ™ Network

These actions can be caused by malicious traffic that has been identified as coming from the IP address that you are currently assigned by your network service provider or ISP.

Typical causes are listed below.

  • The IP address is shared by several users. (For example, in a residential complex, a college campus or on the territory of wireless access).
    • If you are accessing the PSN from a common IP address (for example, on the campus of a college or on the territory of wireless Wi-Fi access), it is recommended that you contact the local network support staff to get detailed information on how they can help solve this problem. Problems.
  • Malicious software is installed without your knowledge on the device connected to the network. (This can be a modem, a router, a PC / MAC, a security camera or a home automation device).
    • If possible, we recommend that you perform a virus scan to detect and remove malware that may be installed on your device. After that, your access can be restored.
  • The assigned IP address was previously used by a spammer or distributed viruses.
    • Serial scanning for viruses of all devices connected to your network can be an effective way to fix this problem.
    • It is not uncommon for malicious software to be installed on modems, routers, security cameras, or other devices that have Internet access and are connected to a home network. If you are still experiencing problems with accessing the PSN network, we also suggest that you perform a factory reset on these devices to try and remove malicious programs that could be installed on them without your knowledge.

It is recommended that you contact the network service provider or the equipment manufacturer for more information about the consequences of resetting to factory settings. SIE is not responsible for the damage caused by resetting to factory settings on your devices.

If you believe there is no malicious activity on your network that could lead to denial of access to our network, the network service provider or ISP will most likely be able to help you in obtaining a new IP address.

After a certain period of time after resolving this issue, the IP address assigned to you will be automatically unlocked.
