image Good news comes for the holders or future buyers of the Honor brand, as they have just announced that they will give up to 24 months of operating system updates . These updates include current smartphone models and future releases.

It is more than known that the main drawback of current smartphones is the lack of updates once you buy it. Virtually all companies leave their terminals within a year and stop offering operating system updates. The companies justify saying that they prefer to focus on improving future products that maintain obsolete technologies, a very questionable reason .

Honor promises up to 24 months of operating system updates and expects other companies to take this example.

There is nothing worse than doing with a new Smartphone and see how soon after the launch, the manufacturer lets offer support in the form of operating system updates.

This in principle may seem somewhat unimportant as long as the smartphone continues to function properly. The other side of the coin is that the lack of updates leaves our Android devices exposed to all kinds of vulnerabilities that will not hesitate to take advantage of hackers through malware, viruses, etc.

One of the references is the update policy of Google Nexus phones, which has promised to give 3 years of security updates. But as for upgrades of a major operating system version, they only guarantee 18 months.

Bearing in mind that when we buy a phone through an operator, we usually sign a contract of permanence of 2 years or more, we can see ourselves with a phone vulnerable to all types of malware after a year . This benefits both operators, as phone manufacturers, which will force an advance purchase of a new mobile accompanied by a renewal of the contract of permanence.

Personally, I think that if Honor is able to keep the promise to keep the updates for at least 24 months, it will be something to be applauded and that will serve as an example to other companies.
