It seems that the screens is the favorite field of evolution of mobile device manufacturers, not only increase their resolution generation after generation, but now we see that they try to reduce the edges to the maximum to get a better use of the front panel. This is what Sharp announces when removing screen borders with Free-Form technology.
From Sharp not only have managed to reduce the frames , but have achieved that the edges and corners are fully curved to achieve a unique design.
At the moment it is a model in testing phase which they have called Corner R. This prototype makes use of the already mentioned Free-Form technology that allows to divide the different layers of the LCD panel and roasted to get edges and completely curved corners.
By eliminating frames, this new technology allows 90% of the front panel to be used . Recall that current devices are able to take a much lower percentage, 70%, so this new technology is a breakthrough in the design of screens for mobile devices.
We only have photographs of Sharp's Corner R prototype , but we know that it is equipped with a 5.2-inch Full HD display and a pixel density of 425ppp .
It is true that this type of screens offers one of the most innovative designs, but the unknown that keeps us in suspense is its handling on a daily basis, for example How does the screen respond if we accidentally touch one of the edges? Remember that having no edges, when holding the device with your hand we can touch the edge accidentally .
Another aspect that strikes us is that with such use of the front panel, they have had to dispense with the front camera , as we see in the images. Although we must be clear that it is a prototype and we will never know if it will reach the real market, but ... do you like the design of the screen?
