It was something that we all expected and should not catch us by surprise. Cyanogen OS was facing an uncertain future and today it seems that the day has come to end the operating system as we know it. But it seems that they do not give up and they will try to revive Cyanogen OS with a different concept, which they have dubbed Cyanogen Modular OS .

From Cyanogen's own blog we get the name of the new CEO, Lio Tai . Accompanying this news of the change of CEO, also inform us that Cyanogen OS changes course and will no longer be a consolidated operating system, but will be distributed in portions, hence its new name Cyanogen Modular OS.

The end of Cyanogen OS comes and an uncertain future for Cyanogen Modular OS begins.

It seems that the new CEO Lio Tai has taken very seriously the phrase "divide and conquer" , so much so, that he intends to divide the Cyanogen OS operating system into modules .

It ended up offering the manufacturers a complete operating system with its defects and virtues, now they can choose those aspects that most interest them. With this strategy they intend to overcome the limitations imposed on manufacturers by the previous operating system based on Android, offering them the possibility of selecting those parts that most interest them.

As we have read, Cyanogen Modular OS can be installed on Android, as well as on customization layers . Apparently it seems an idea that will provide flexibility, but also shows desperation to gain a foothold in the market at any price.

It has never been seen that Cyanogen OS was launched as a free product based on the community, but with the aim of generating profits. The most confident thought that if this allowed them to improve the free authentic product, that is, CyanogenMOD, then it was welcome. The result was obviously the opposite and even brands recognized as OnePlus ended up ending their contract with Cyanogen.

We will see what the future holds for this new attempt to bring afloat something that is predestined to sink again and again.
