In WhatsApp all that we are talking about is reflected in the conversation window. If we slide upwards we can consult a complete history in which everything we talk with each one of the people is saved. It is very important to take care of what we are talking about and if we have dealt with personal issues it is better to erase the history of our phone before risking losing or stealing the smartphone and an unauthorized person can consult all our conversations.
We can delete the histories of conversations individually (in the case of wanting to only delete a history instead of for all conversations started) or we can choose to erase all histories completely to not leave any trace on our device.
To delete a conversation history from a specific chat, simply open that chat and open the settings menu.
Here we click on the option "more" to see other options (similar to how a block is applied to a user) and then simply select the option "Empty chat".
We will see a confirmation message that we must accept. Once done, all the history will disappear and the conversation will be clean of all traces.
If we want to delete all the conversation histories and we have many open chats, deleting them one by one can be a rather boring task. For this we have a specific option within the WhatsApp menu itself that allows us to delete all the records at once and thus leave the client clean.
To access this option we must open the "Settings" menu of WhatsApp and there select "Chat settings". we will see a window similar to the following.
In the lower part we see 2 options:
- Remove all chats
- Empty all the chats
The first of the options deletes the chats completely and removes them from the list of open chats that appear in the main WhatsApp window leaving only the groups in which we participate.
The second of the options simply deletes the history, but will leave all entries empty in the main window of WhatsApp to be able to resume them easily without having to search for the contact in the contact list.
It is highly recommended to delete the histories from time to time because if our phone falls into the wrong hands all our privacy can be compromised and anyone could read everything we have talked about. In addition, deleting the histories considerably optimizes the performance of WhatsApp and reduces the memory consumption of it.
