WhatsApp is not a simple instant messaging client, but also allows you to send multimedia content such as audio, images and video. The problem with this content is that it usually takes up a lot of space and storage space in our device also consumes much of the mobile data rate if we have activated the automatic reception of them.
WhatsApp allows us to disable the automatic reception of contents so that we only receive the ones we want by manually downloading them by clicking on them.
For this, the first thing we must do is enter the WhatsApp settings menu.
Once here we will select the option "Chat settings".
And we will select the option of "Automatic download of multimedia".
In this window we will see 3 options. In the first of them we will configure the data that we want to download automatically when we are connected to a mobile data network. The second of them allows us to configure the data that we download automatically when we are connected to a WiFi network and the third of them the data to download when we have data roaming (from abroad, for example).
If we click on one of these entries we can configure the multimedia files that we want to download as images, audio or video.
The best option is not to download data automatically, but to download them manually when it is best for us to make optimal use of the network and keep our device free of unnecessary charge.
Finally, the voice data sent will always be automatically received. These voice data seek to be able to use WhatsApp in a similar way to what a "walkie-talkie" would do, that is, to press, speak, release and send the data.
In this way, the files will not be downloaded automatically and will not be stored in our device indefinitely occupying space that could be necessary in many cases for other purposes.
