Hello. Tell me, please, how to change the password from the Wi-Fi router? The router lists the names of these two models: No. TL-WR940N / TL-WR941ND. I understand that they are similar and the settings will be identical. Essence of the question:

How can I change the "Username" and "Password" in the simplest way so that I do not have to reset all settings and call the wizard?

In addition to the main issue under the figure 1), I described my situation under the figure 2). Can you also tell me what I did wrong?

Situation: 2) I just entered the new password into the line and saved it. I did not take any more actions, just connecting to the network took off and on the laptop the status of "limited" is lit. And I can not connect to the network. Was it necessary to pull the router out of the outlet or take another step after changing the password? Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

Hello. A little confusing situation. I understand that you want to change the password on a Wi-Fi network. The password you need to enter on devices when connecting to the TP-Link TL-WR940N Wi-Fi network. Right?

If we are talking about a Wi-Fi network, then there is no "User Name". There is a name for the Wi-Fi network (SSID). The user name and password on the router are set to protect the settings of the router itself. But you probably do not write about it.

As for the password for Wi-Fi. You can change it according to this instruction:  how to change, or put the password of Wi-Fi on TP-Link . For the TL-WR940N / TL-WR941ND this instruction also works. After changing the password, you need to save the settings of the router, restart the router, remove the Wi-Fi network on the laptop and reconnect. Already with a new password.

I show:

  • We go into the settings of the TP-Link router. In your case, this is TP-Link TL-WR940N / ND. If you do not know how to do this, see the instruction: Entering the settings of the TP-Link router .
  • In the section Wireless - Wireless Security (I do not know in which language you have the settings), change the password and save the settings.

  • In the Wireless Settings section, you can also change the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID).
    We also save the settings.
  • We reboot the TP-Link TL-WR940N by turning the power off and back on. But, it's better through the control panel. In the System Tools - Reboot section.
Wait for the router to reboot.
  • If the network name is not changed, then delete your Wi-Fi network on the computer. A link to the instructions on how to do this, I gave above. And if the SSID was changed, then the network can not be deleted. Just in the list of available networks, select your wireless network and connect to it.
