The latest version of Google Keep, the Google application to take notes , has received an important update that allows us to write text manually so that later the program recognizes it and transforms it into editable text .
This function is especially important in devices with pencil or S Pen as in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note, since it allows us to write quickly and more accurately.
Google Keep is a simple application to create notes or write down ideas. Although the application is very simple, it does not stop being powerful. In our notes we can add lists with tasks (we can cross out the completed tasks) , images, Google Maps locations, voice notes, links and many more types of data. It also allows you to assign different colors to each type of note, so if you have several, you will locate what you are looking for more easily.
The handwriting recognition technique is not something new, it has been around for quite some time and it is known as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) . This system uses artificial intelligence, patterns and many other resources to digitize handwritten texts.
To be honest, after testing the application we see that there is still a great margin for improvement, since the recognition of our writing has not been very satisfactory in most of the tests . Some devices, such as Samsung Galaxy Note have this technology implemented for quite some time and works much better than Google Keep, but we are confident that in future versions of the application this will improve.
It has also come to the fore the rumor that in future versions of Google Keep we will see news such as the recognition of stickers or emoticons, but at the moment it is not official. If you have not updated to the latest version of Google Keep, you are already late .
