The latest update of the Google Drive for Android application brought as a novelty the possibility of managing Android backups that are stored in our Google Drive account . In this article we will show you how to access this functionality and how to use it.
If we are critical enough with the Android operating system, we will realize that its backup system is really poor if we compare it with other operating system solutions such as iOS or Windows. This is a drag that we have been dragging for a long time and although it does not seem that it will improve in the short term, at least we already see some intention to improve the backup system.
First of all we assume that you have installed the Google Drive application and ready to use, if not, Play Store will be helpful. Once we have executed the application, we have to access the application menu by clicking on the icon with three horizontal stripes located in the upper left corner . Once in this menu, we see that a new option appears that says "Backup copies" and has the icon of a cloud next to it .
Once we access the section "Backup copies" , we can see a list of the copies made. Each backup is valid for 30 days, although we can delete them manually by clicking on the three points vertically and selecting "Delete backup copy" .
We can also access that copy and consult its contents with certain limitations. For example, in my case it shows me the data backed by 9 applications, although they are all Google applications. When you try to check the backup of the device settings, only an informational message is displayed but we can not see any data.
It is a system that a priori does not serve much, but we hope it will improve in future versions.
