Creating a Samba server on a smartphone is somewhat complicated, however, it is also very practical since it will allow us to access the internal memory of our device as if it were a network hard disk or a NAS easily wirelessly no need to use additional software, for example, an FTP client.
To create a Samba server on our Android device we will use a program called Servers Ultimate. This program can be downloaded for free from the Android application store, the Play Store . It also has a much more complete and functional paid version.
It is possible that depending on the server that we want to create the program, ask us to download an additional package or another. If we see this message we must accept it and we will automatically go to the Play Store to start downloading.
Once downloaded, we execute it and a window similar to the following will appear.
We must click on "Servers" to create a new one (or start / stop an existing one). Click on the + button and a long list of all the available servers will appear.
We will select in our case SMB Native Server and start with the configuration of it.
In the General tab we simply have to write the name we want to give to the server. Next we go to the " Specific " tab .
This tab is configured and prepared to work in the default configuration of Windows, however, if we use a working group other than WORKGROUP, we must change it in this tab.
The next step to configure is Roots , that is, the directories. By default we do not have any shared directory, so we must create the path and its name in the program.
Finally, in the Users tab we will manage the users.
If we do not have any user created, we can access the shared folder without authentication, but we can easily protect the access with username and password by creating a new user.
With these steps our server is already created and configured. The only thing we have left to do is start it from the servers section.
Once started (and connected to the same network), our device will appear with the selected folder to manage it as if it were a network hard drive.
