The fingerprint reader is an extra that we see more frequently in all smartphone ranges and why limit us to use it to unlock the phone, if we can give many more uses. Thanks to a small application, we can show you how to turn off the screen of your mobile with the fingerprint sensor .
In some advanced versions of Android it is already officially announced that extra functions will be given to the fingerprint sensor. For example, in Android 7.1 Nougat it is planned that you can download the notification bar directly from the fingerprint sensor.
In order to achieve our goal, for the moment we will have to resort to an application. As of today there is no application of this type in Google Play Store, so we have to resort to an independent developer of the famous XDA-Developers forum.
The application is called Fingerprint Quick Action and has been developed by the user ztc1997 . The application does not need root permissions , just enough permissions to be able to turn off the screen. These administrator permissions will be requested at the time we select the action to turn off the screen.
At first this application was designed only to perform this action to turn off the screen, but the developer has been improving the app and now we can also configure it to access the main screen or to expand the notification panel (as is done in Android Nougat 7.1) .
For this we just have to go to the official post of the application in XDA-Developers and download the APK file of the most recent version (the 4.0 at the time of writing the article) .
Next we install the APK file on our device, remembering to previously activate in the security settings the option of "unknown Oriegenes". We configure the options offered by the application and that's it.
