We live in the digital age where the Internet reigns as the network of networks, but this also makes it a device full of threats and risks. Within these threats we find the famous viruses, malwares, Trojans, exploits and other family. In order to be aware of the latest threats, Intel and McAfee have launched the Threat Landscape Dashboard website where we can check which are the most important threats of the moment .

Being aware of the most relevant threats helps us protect ourselves from them and keep our equipment and personal information safe from malicious users. This website is true that it is not aimed at ordinary users, but rather at computer security professionals.

How to check which are the most important threats at the moment of the hand of Intel and McAfee on the Threat Landscape Dashboard website.

Once we access Threat Landscape Dashboard , we can already see that a ranking with the 10 threats of the moment is shown on the screen. Among these threats we can find vulnerabilities, Ransomware, ExploitKits and campaigns .

The vulnerabilities are identified by their CVE code (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) and shows a small description of the vulnerability where we can see: affected operating system, date of discovery and other sources with information related to the vulnerability. The same applies to all other threats.

This type of news always gives me the opportunity to give some basic safety tips that I will never tire of repeating and that even the most new users can follow :

  • Never run executable files downloaded from the internet and that come from unknown sources.
  • Analyze with an antivirus those executable files that we download from the internet (installers, portable applications, etc) . I personally use VirusTotal to analyze those suspicious files.
  • Keep the operating system updated with the latest security patches.

Following those three tips and with a little common sense, you will be safe from most threats that circulate on the network.
