A few days ago we announced, to everyone's surprise, the update of OnePlus X to OxygenOS 3.1.0 . The next step would obviously be the launch of the update to OxygenOS 3.5 Community and this has happened.

This update to OxygenOS 3.5 for the OnePlus flagship this year 2016, is a Community Build. This means that it is not a stable version, but it is a pre-stable version , with which it is intended to get feedback from users. These updates are stable enough for testing, but they are not mature enough to send the update to all devices.

The OnePlus 3 receives the update to OxygenOS 3.5 Community.

If, despite not being a completely stable version, you decide to update your OnePlus 3, we recommend you follow the instructions of the official OnePlus forum . Needless to say, make a backup of the important data of your smartphone before proceeding to update. In the forum itself indicate where to download the update and how to flash it.

OxygenOS 3.5 is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow , something very criticized by users, because they believe that this update comes a year late (remember that just launched Android 7.0 Nougat).

In spite of the above, if we update OxygenOS 3.5 we can enjoy the following news and improvements:

  • Improvements in the user interface .
  • New applications and improvements, including the clock, the weather widget, the file manager, etc.
  • Improvements in the camera software.
  • Improvements in the settings and personalization of the device.

But you have to be careful when updating, since several failures are known:

  • Only the English language is supported at the moment.
  • You may notice minor performance problems.
  • When you use custom themes, these can cause problems.
  • The customizer of the user interface of the system (System UI Tuner) , gives serious problems so it is not recommended to use it .
  • If you have fingerprint authentication enabled, you will need to re-register your fingerprints .
