A few hours ago, the alarm was heard in the considered "safe" store of Play Store applications , as a report by TrendLabs Security Intelligence states that more than 400 malicious applications have been detected that can damage our Android devices .
To infect us, just install one of these malicious applications directly from Google Play Store , we do not need to do anything else. It's as simple as Google has put some cyber criminals, despite Google claim that they have a filter that discards harmful applications with malware.
After this report the first reaction of some users has been to resort to the installation of some antivirus on your Android device , something recommended but that will not give us full guarantee that we will not get infected with any of these applications.
This news is not something new, since last month there was talk that more than 40 applications had been detected with the same Trojan or malicious code, known as DressCode .
Unfortunately, a list of malicious applications has not been made public, but there has been a response from Google, who has stated that it has already taken steps to eliminate these applications from the Play Store .
What we can read in the report, is that most of the infected applications are mods for games, skins, themes or fake optimization programs. As an example of application infected with DressCode they put a GTA 5 mod for Minecraft.
Keep in mind that these alarming reports are really a great opportunity for antivirus companies, so follow the following security tips:
