One of the main reasons why an internet network can be slow is because we have an intruder connected to it that is using our ADSL to download or is generating excessive traffic. It is always advisable to have control over the devices that are connected to our router to prevent an individual from taking advantage of our connection.

There are several ways to do this. One of the most effective and simple to perform is through programs designed specifically for that purpose.

A program that will help us identify all the devices connected to our router is Who's on my WiFi.

Who's on my WiFi is a free application for home use for Windows systems, although it also has a paid version for business use with some additional functions.

To use this tool, the first thing to do is download the program from its main website .

Once downloaded the program will install it in our system. The installation is done quickly and cleanly, that is, it does not install advertising or unwanted software.

Once the installation is finished we will be ready to start using this tool.

The first thing we will see when running the program for the first time will be a configuration wizard. During this wizard the program will analyze our network to show us all the hosts connected to it.

In this assistant we must, first of all, click on the button to explore the network to find the devices connected to our router. Then the assistant will continue and all the yellow networks will appear. This color means that they are unknown networks.

We have a small panel from which we can change from "unknown" to "known" white and we will register the networks that we know are really ours.

We return to analyze the network in search of new devices. With this, our assistant will have finished. We will see the main window of the program that looks similar to the following.

In this list all the devices and devices currently connected to the router will be displayed. In it we can see the name of the device, the MAC address and the IP address. We will also see that colors vary depending on whether the device is known (blank) or unknown (yellow).

In the "Description" section we can write a personalized name in order to recognize ourselves the device in question. We will have a window similar to the following:

To the left of the main window of the program we can see a list with all the devices. Clicking on one of them will show us a large amount of information about it.

With this we can easily identify all devices connected to our network and, in case of detecting one that does not correspond to our equipment (for example a smartphone that is not ours) we must change the WiFi password as soon as possible to prevent the intruder from continue to take advantage of our network.

Users of the paid version can block access to suspicious hosts so they can not connect to the internet through our WiFi.
